15th ANNIVERSARY OF [REC], THE PHENOMENON OF A GENERATION (2022)
Activity description
As part of the 15th anniversary of the premiere of “[REC]”, directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza and produced by Filmax, we celebrate this anniversary with the presentation of the documentary [REC] TERROR SIN PAUSA, which portrays the birth and impact of the first release of the mythical Spanish horror saga that became an international film phenomenon. A Volta Producción and Filmax production directed by Diego López-Fernández and with interviews with all those who played a part in the creation of [REC].
To culminate this emotional date, Filmax goes one step further in technological innovation and, together with Vottun, the leading technology startup in blockchain technology and NFTs in Spain, enters into web3 technology by launching a limited edition of digital collectibles related to the legendary saga, which include utilities associated with physical and digital experiences for the community. The launch of the first limited edition of exclusive digital collectibles will take place during the Sitges Film Festival.

NFTs: DO MOVIES DREAM OF NFTs? (2022)
Activity description
This year we pioneered film distribution without even knowing it.
Here comes a story about how a bunch of filmmakers ended up evolving the Cardano NFT ecosystem by sidestepping traditional distribution with our feature film TOXICA.
As filmmakers, we had to learn to speak ‘blockchain” while hanging out with your cinema audience.
We unveil the secret about the NFT / IP paradox: why this comprehensively disrupts film distribution, how and why films and NFT’s share DNA, and all about implications, hostile reactions from other filmmakers, and why NFTs are no replacement for theatrical release, but a ticket to sustainable filmmaking life – and finally the creation of OG stories again.
